Core Simulation
*Some information in this publication is out of date following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.*
The core simulation can be completed in 2-3 class periods and works best if you have limited class time to run the simulation. This option focuses on how a bill becomes a law and gives students an overview of parliamentary debate.
Planning the Simulation
Planning the simulation for your class should be simple. We’ve broken it down into a few steps that will help you get started quickly.
Background Lessons
Background lessons are suggested to familiarize students with basic parliamentary concepts. Background lessons should be taught prior to beginning the simulation. Activities can be done in class or distributed as homework to enhance student learning.
Running the Simulation
The following scripts and activities are suggested for use during the simulation.
After the Simulation
There are plenty of options for assessing student learning, including a test bank, essay or presentation activities, or the post-simulation lesson Parliament and Me.
